    The Nutritionist-Dietitians’ Association of the Philippines’ 60th Diamond Year 2015 is well underway. Many exciting events are already in the creative program committee including the release and launching of the most celebrated limited edition memorabilia, the Nutrition and Dietetics in the Philippines: Second Edition which will highlight the association’s achievements from 1985 to 2014. As NDAP prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime celebration, the Diamond Jubilee Committee is focused on making this a unique historic occasion and a powerful way to celebrate, to create a legacy and to build a corporate history that conveys vision, innovation, and strength.

    As member of ICDA and AFDA, the NDAP regularly send representatives to the International Congress of Dietetics and the Asian Congress of Dietetics. In the last two years, NDAP supported and sponsored seminars on Leadership, Research, Nutrition and Culinary Skills Enhancement Training Program and benchmarking of clinical practice guidelines for renal, diabetes and cardio for clinical dietitian under the Hospital Dietetics Section. It participated in the development of a new Filipino Food Guide (Pinggang Pinoy), a plate-based representation of what a Filipino adult should consume on a per meal basis to meet the body’s energy and nutrient needs.

    Some 50 Filipinos led by NDAP President Dr. Adela Jamorabo-Ruiz and NDAP Vice President Milagros Elisa Federizo attended the 6th Asian Congress of Dietetics (ACD) on the theme “Advancing Health through Innovating Dietetic Practice across Asia”. Both Ruiz and Federizo were invited speakers. This quadrennial event was held at the National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) International Convention Center, Taipei, Taiwan on August 21-24, 2014 under the auspices of the Asian Federation of Dietetics Associations (AFDA) where Dr. Ruiz was the country’s voting delegate and AFDA Secretary General of the Council Meetings and the General Assembly.

    The NDAP, Nutritionist- Dietitians’ Association of the Philippines (the only accredited professional organization by the Professional Regulation Commission for Nutritionist-Dietitians in the country) together with BAYAN MUNA Party-list Rep. NERI J. COLMENARES filed and introduced a House Bill at the House of Representatives that will be known as “The Nutrition and Dietetics Law of 2014”. The ND Bill is House Bill No. 4742.

    The much anticipated 59th Nutritionist Dietitians’ Association of the Philippines (NDAP) Annual Convention will take place February 26-27, 2014 at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria Hotel located in Ortigas Center, Pasig City. The theme of the convention is “We Learn, We Share, We Grow through Research” under the leadership of over-all Convention Chair Mr. Meyrick T. Principe and its President Dr. Adela Jamorabo-Ruiz. The Association has been in the thick of preparations for the past year to ensure the success of the national event. Its scientific program presents NDAP’s first pillar which is Research. The convention promises to deliver a comprehensive program for the professional updates and renewal of the NDs to valuing the uses of research and application of new findings in the different fields of Nutrition and Dietetics.
