DAPPER

The DAPPER is the newsletter of the Nutritionist-Dietitians’ Association of the Philippines (NDAP).  It is published quarterly to disseminate activities and accomplishments of the organization and its chapters nationwide, upcoming events and news and information relevant to the profession of Nutrition and Dietetics. On the lighter side, the DAPPER serves as a vehicle to keep in touch with friends and acquaintances on life events such as changes in status, new ventures, jobs and positions; studies, research and publications, travels, migration, etc.

The DAPPER came about in 1977 to replace the DAP Bulletin which was the first newsletter of the Association. Why “dapper”? Because the name of the organization established on February 25, 1955 was Dietetic Association of the Philippines with DAP as acronym.  So the DAPPER according to its first issue stand for the “DAP-er, the association member” or “DAP Reporter – a newsletter that reports on DAP’s activities and achievements.” Although the Association changed its name to NDAP in 1978 to harmonize with the Nutritionist-Dietitian professional created by Presidential Decree No. 1286, the newsletter has remained ad DAPPER.

From 1977 to 1981, the DAPPER was published bi-monthly but became a quarterly publication since 1982.  There were times however, when issues were combined for cost containment or because of delayed arrival of reports from the chapters or the committees.
