    The Nutritionist-Dietitians’ Association of the Philippines’ 60th Diamond Year 2015 is well underway. Many exciting events are already in the creative program committee including the release and launching of the most celebrated limited edition memorabilia, the Nutrition and Dietetics in the Philippines: Second Edition which will highlight the association’s achievements from 1985 to 2014. As NDAP prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime celebration, the Diamond Jubilee Committee is focused on making this a unique historic occasion and a powerful way to celebrate, to create a legacy and to build a corporate history that conveys vision, innovation, and strength.

    In celebration of our 59th year, we are excited to welcome fellow colleagues and friends to the NDAP Convention 2014 with the theme “We Learn, We Share, We Grow through Research.” At the moment, we’re glad to have about 400 early registrants from all over the country coming from Clinical Dietetics, Food Service, Community Nutrition, Academe, Research, Health and Wellness, as well as Industry. This convention is going to be a good time to learn from each other, share our experiences, and grow from new trends and updates of our profession.

    Filipinos eat five to six times a day: breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch (noontime meal), afternoon snack and dinner (evening meal) or after dinner/midnight snack. Snacking is eating light foods between regular meals or simply meryenda. The morning snack also known as Segundo Almuerzo or second breakfast is eaten around 10am while the afternoon snack is eaten between 3 to 4pm. Filipinos prefer fresh, flavorful and juicy snacks. While snacking has been a tradition, it has evolved with the different working hours particularly in the BPO sector and those with 24-hour working companies.
